Who we areL'Ost d'Albret
is registered under the regulative French law of 1901. It regroups passionate volunteers of the medieval age and
especially, the beginning of the XVth century in France.
L'Ost d'Albret,
try's to reproduce with care and truthfulness, the daily living of a medieval civil and military encampment issued sometimes, from the
highest nobles like Charles, Duke of Orleans, during the tumultuous reign of Charles VI of Valois (1368 - 1380- 1422).
Our aimOur
aim is to bring back to light, important characters that played a major part
in that particular period of French and English history and present to the
public, their life from researched documents, studies, archaeological pieces,
authentic manuscripts and make our work of interpretation, an educational
objective. With care for improvement, l’Ost d’Albret is trying to represent with
the best of its means, the history, the persons and the life of that amazing and
so fascinating period.
Association's activitiesThe public can approach reconstituted items, catch the cooking
smells of roasts and stews,
contemplate furniture’s, the different weapons
and armours and obtain explanations
on their uses, see soldiers and knights
training themselves or preparing for
battle, be informed on ways and
customs concerning ethics or hygiene,
admire the honourable Ladies and
their dresses that, with gracefulness,
perform courtly dances while some maid-servants
card or spin wool, craft or repair some garments, or still, observe soldiers
that discreetly, play some games that were forbidden by the church ! Here, in a few lines, is the package of activities that can be presented, depending on the demand and availability of our volunteers. For l'Ost
d'Albret, it is the ideal pretext to go towards the public and share with him,
our knowledge, thus hoping to make history relive…
